Illinois Pediatric Learning Collaborative

Lynda P. Bollman Pediatric Hospice and Palliative Care Program and Southern Illinois University Medicine have teamed up to offer a Pediatric Learning Collaborative to any professional working or interested in working within the pediatric hospice and palliative care space. These educational sessions will be on a variety of important topics, including pediatric legislation, perinatal care, palliative care 101, education and school services, transitioning to adulthood, addressing psychosocial and anticipatory grief needs, and diagnosis specific training. There will also be frequent case conceptualizations and a parent panel focused on answering practitioner questions and providing important feedback on patients’ experiences in pediatric services.

We understand pediatric hospice and palliative care is a small population, touched by numerous incredible professionals from a variety of settings. These education sessions hope to assist in professional development, service delivery, and network of colleagues. Therefore, the intent of this learning series is to fill the gap in pediatric hospice and palliative care education, while creating a networking opportunity for Illinois practitioners.

We encourage the below professionals working or studying to work with children diagnosed with a life-limiting condition to join us.

  • Doctors
  • Nurse Practitioners
  • Nurses
  • Social Workers
  • Chaplains
  • Child Life Specialists
  • Therapists (I.e., Music, Occupational, Physical, Speech, Grief, Mental Health)
  • Certified Nursing Assistants
